Joanne
Past the police station towards George Street Bridge and left towards the Leisure centre.

He pulls the car up beside the centre and I hop out

I'll wait by here for you he says

I fly into Sainsburys

Security guard follows me round like a fly on shit.
But I stride straight over to the alcohol cabinet and grabs a four pack of red stripe.
Over to the till and I shove my hand in my pocket to pull out the twenty that Sandra gave me and I chucks it at the checkout girl who gives me a stinking look and then gives me my change.

I rip one can off and put the three in my JD bag

Jo opens the can and takes a huge glug.

Joanne
Two thirds gone.

I leave the store much to the relief of the employees.

Dart across the road and hop onto the white footbridge.

It's empty

Jo takes another huge gulp of the can
Walks into the middle of the Bridge puts the can down and takes a coke bottle out of the JD bag.

Joanne
You know you said you'd never leave me!?

And I believed you

Said you'd always be with me!
But you're not.

You left me.

And I miss you so much.

And I hate you so much for leaving.

I never got the chance to say thank you

For everything.

You know.

Not just taking me in and raising me.

But for putting up with me.

All the tantrums and triumphs.

Everything.

For loving me endlessly and making me your entire world.

It was all the times I could come to you with a problem or a dilemma.

And you wouldn't rest until that problem or whatever was sorted.

All the times you'd take me strawberry picking and let me eat the strawberries on the way around.

All the trips to Barry Island

All the 2p's and prizes

All the sing-alongs to Gabrielle

Beat

Joanne
You were right

When you told me that is precious

I hate that we were on borrowed time.

And there's nothing worst than running on borrowed time.

Time that is going to run out like that (snaps her fingers)
I didn't have no money for an urn

They placed you in a plastic jar at first but it was a bit chunky when I was in emergency accommodation so I had to place you in this.

Hope that's ok.

Pause

Joanne
Thank you for being the best Mother

Best Nanna

Best friend

A girl could ask for.

Thank you for teaching me to remain kind hearted and compassionate

Even in the darkest of times.

And to help others as best I can.

Do you believe in parallels?
Parallel worlds, parallel lives, parallel us.

Just out there beyond the stars, beyond the sun is another me so that means that there is another you.

Somewhere.

In a universe of infinite possibilities I know you're waiting.

For me.

And I Promise

Jo scatters her Nan's ashes off the bridge

Joanne
I'll see you soon

The brown murky waters of the River Usk flowing beneath.

Sounds of waves softly crashing into each other.

Building.

Wind flowing through her hair.

Joanne leans over the railings of the white walk bridge.

Breathing it all in.

Coke bottle in her hand.

She closes her eyes.

The pathetic ruins of the castle in the background.

Sunrise ripples on the river face.

She takes a large inhale of breath.

Emptiness.

No one else on the bridge.

Sound of the crashing waves getting harder.

The wind gently blows on her face.

She feels it.

She exhales.

Opens her eyes.

Watches the waves below.

The colours of the sunset wrinkle on the over-lapping waves.

She looks up at the sky.

Clouds moving.

Colours throughout.

She gets lost in the sky.

Colours merging and increasing.

Seeping through the clouds.

Creating shadows.

She smiles.

Sound of the crashing waves getting even harder.

Wind getting more fierce.

Closes her eyes.

Breathes in.

Filling her lungs with breath.

Leans a little further over the railing.

Opens her eyes.

Exhales.

Stares into the distance.

Looks Left over to Friars Walk.

Looks Right over to the new built flats.

Deep in thought.

Giggles.

Opens her arms wide out.

Wind blows on her skin.

Wind blows through her hair.

Leans her head back.

Breathes.

Looks up to the sky again.

Holds the position.

For a moment.

Gives herself to the wind.

Free.

Sings Sunshine quietly to herself -

Joanne
Sunshine through my window
That's what you are
My shining star

Smiles.
