Joanne
I brush myself off and get my shit together

Beat

Joanne
Cars are slowing down by the lights to see what commotion has just happened

Another morning in Newport I yell

I go to re-enter
Get proper answers like
But as I look through the door I can already see the receptionist and Mr Juice-head on the phone whilst they're staring at me.

To see what I'm doing

Fuck this
AND FUCK YOU

I'm off
Strolling across the road to the sound of beeps
past Courtyard and down towards Tesco.

The buildings and shops
The history
Taking it all in.
The memories
The stories behind them all

Steals a fag off the Tesco employees on break outside.

Puffing away I go round the corner and onto high street.

Wandering through the crowd towards my pitch

I get to my pitch and look at it in its glory
Triumphant as it stands there proud
My business
My pitch

Joanne goes to pack away her pitch and as she does she looks at the loom band on her wrist

Joanne
I grab a handful of loom bands and start throwing them into the crowd of passer by's
Take a loom band I yell out
Give a loom band to a loved one

And anyone would think I have the plague as people are actively avoiding me as I'm dispersing of my looms

Chasing people down high street

Here please take one.
Honestly no charge
Just have it

Two old ladies with their trolleys outside poundland take a handful of looms off me and tell me to have a lovely day

And no sooner am I back to get more and I have a very smartly dressed gent with a poor excuse for a beard peering his eyes over me

I recognise him instantly
He's part of this club

The vultures I call them
Out here doing the councils dirty work

Excuse me miss he chirps up with
I'm going to have to ask you to pack this away

Whose asking?

Chris.
Community Support Officer.

And he flashes his badge to me like a shit version of a wannabe police officer.

Jo giggles softly to herself

Joanne
Right

I'm going to have to ask you/

/Yeah I heard you the first time.
Why have I got to pack this away?

Well you're disturbing the peace with your current actions

Ha
Very funny
They're just loom bands
No trouble
Could be worse like

Even so I can't allow you to carry on
given that you are within ten meters of that ATM over there

Chris don't take the piss ok
I've had a really shit morning and I was just getting rid of my bands
Really wasn't hurting anyone
Christ I could be drunk and disorderly at 11 in the morning

Under the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014
I am now issuing you with a Public Space Protection Order/

/What?

Please don't interrupt

But what's a Public Space Thingy Magiggy?

All the information is on the back of your order

Chris hands Jo the PSPO

Joanne
Well you can take your bit of paper (Jo begins to rip it up) and shove it
I've done nothing wrong
You're going to write me up for giving out loom bands
Get a grip

I really wish you hadn't of done that
Non compliance results in immediate police action

Joanne burts out laughing

Joanne
Police action?
For ripping up some paper
Mate you see me around here all the time.
I've been here for ages
The loom band lady

Yes.
But we are clamping down on nuisances in the city

Nuisances?
Are you taking the piss?
I don't bother anyone

Beat

Joanne
I mind my own business yeah
I'm not a nuisance

Beat

Joanne
I make flipping loom bands for crying out loud

Beat

Joanne
Just give me a break.
I'm working not begging.

He just looks at me and smugly giggles to himself

I don't make the rules
I simply follow them.
Maybe you should try it.
And then you wouldn't be in this predicament

Aw go and Fu/

/You have until I finish my current rounds on high street
Then I will be back
With the authorities
And I strongly advise that you not be here when i return
Now have a good day.
And clear away your pitch

And like a dementor he slithers into the crowd of people passing through High Street to pick out another target.
To suck the life outta them.

Judge, jury and executioner.

I just let the pitch sit there for a moment.
In all its glory.

Jo stares at the pitch and the sea of loom bands
She fiddles with the loom band on her wrist
Gabrielle - "Dreams" starts quietly playing underneath the text
